Tim Clough is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in foot and ankle disorders.

He is a Foot, Ankle and Trauma surgeon and consults for several Premiership & Championship League football clubs, Super League Rugby teams and a range of other elite professional sports organisations.

His NHS base is at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust where he sees both GP referrals and complex referrals from other surgeons.

He consults privately at The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle; Highfield Hospital in Rochdale; and Wrightington Hospital.

Tim's areas of expertise are arthroscopic surgery of the ankle, ankle joint replacement, surgical management of the rheumatoid foot, bunion and lesser toe surgery, and sports injuries to the foot and ankle. He has a special interest in foot and ankle trauma.

Tim is a keen teacher and has lectured throughout the UK and overseas; he holds the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford.

In addition, he has been elected to serve on the Scientific Committee of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, and is a member of the International Advisory Board for 'The Foot' journal. He is also a Specialist Advisor to the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE), for the Interventional Procedures Programme.

Tim qualified from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and Manchester University. He gained subspecialist training through an International Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship in Canada, and through a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Wrightington.  

He won the Sanofi Synthelabo Travelling Fellowship in 2002 and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Travelling Fellowship Prize in 2003.
