Chris Peach is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in treating disorders of the shoulder and the elbow, and traumatic injuries of the entire upper limb. 

Chris specialises exclusively in treating shoulder and elbow conditions.

He leads two research groups in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Manchester and his research programmes are currently looking at: design optimisation of current implants for shoulder and elbow surgery; development of bio-absorbable bone fracture implant technology; additive manufacturing in cartilage regeneration; and mathematical modelling for shoulder movement.

Chris is a founder member of the British Elbow Club which is a network of specialist elbow surgeons in the UK. He is also a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and sits on the research committee.

He is involved in teaching at local level in the North West, plus he is an invited faculty member at international courses for shoulder and elbow surgical training.

Chris graduated as a doctor from Imperial College School of Medicine and trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in London, Oxford and the North West. He spent two years undertaking a post-graduate research degree at the University of Oxford examining the genetic basis of Osteoarthritis of the shoulder, having been awarded the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship.

Chris trained as a fellow in the Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital under Mr Ian Trail, Mr Len Funk and Mr John Haines. He also was awarded the Sheffield Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and trained at the internationally recognised Northern General Hospital Upper Limb Unit with Mr David Stanley and Mr David Potter.

In 2013 he was awarded the British Elbow and Shoulder Society’s coveted North American Elbow Fellowship to further develop his experience in complex elbow surgery in the United States and was subsequently invited to the Mayo Clinic in the United States, to work with Dr Shawn O’Driscoll – a recognised world leader in complex elbow surgery.
